saints was commissioned by Chapter Arts Centre, as a 'one-off performance event, to be presented as a proposition within the 'Passion: Cardiff City of Drama' festival of 2005.
For saints Pearson/Brookes gathered a crowd of fifteen collaborators, past and present, whose professional contribution to performance practice in Wales has spanned thirty years. The work wove together performance fragments donated, and performed, by those collaborators - and took the form of an ensemble performance work, presented amongst a promenade audience, within a stripped out studio theatre space.
The work engaged only live physical and vocal work, and was intimately staged within a space defined by the gathered performers and spectators, fifteen chairs, a grand piano, and a gently 'breathing' lighting ambient.
saints was presented by Dave Baird, Mike Brookes, Robert Delisle-Bowtell, Zoe Hammond, John Hardy, Eddy Ladd, Richard Morgan, Charlotte Nightingale, Roger Owen, Mike Pearson, Marc Rees, Louise Ritchie, John Rowley, Sian Thomas and James Tyson.
